World Building With D.T. Tucker
Every story I create begins with a single person , a character who refuses to stay quiet.
Before I ever think about plot twists, I get to know who they are. I study their fears, their habits, their secrets, and the weight they carry. I write pages of dialogue, inner thoughts, and reactions until they feel real enough to exist beyond the page.
Once the character feels alive, the story begins to unfold through them. I don’t force the plot into place , I let it grow naturally from their decisions. Every action, mistake, and moral choice branches outward, shaping the world around them. The result is a living story that evolves in real time, guided entirely by character rather than outline.
In my darker works, like Shadow’s Game, this process creates layered psychological tension because every twist is born from the characters’ internal struggles.
In my lighter universes, like Obesseus and the Slam-Fu Series, it sparks chaotic humor and unexpected adventure — because the characters themselves drive the comedy.
To me, writing isn’t about inventing a plot , it’s about discovering how far a character will go once they’re set free.
